Musicians

The Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony is  under the artistic direction of
Maestro John Larry Granger.

The 2010-2011 Season will be a year of transition. We will have three exciting guest conductors: Nathaniel Berman will conduct the first set. Mr. Granger will conduct the Youth and Family concerts, but he will be assisted by Jonathan Govias. The third set will be directed by Lucik Aprahamian. You are going to like making music with these three gifted leaders!

Joining the symphony
If you are proficient in an orchestral instrument and are under 20 years old, you are eligible to try out for the symphony.

To register for the 2010-2011 season:
  • New musicians should complete an Audition form.
  • Returning musicians should complete a Registration packet.
  • Please download and fill out the appropriate forms from the links above (they are in PDF format). After completing all applicable forms, please send them by "snail mail" to the Symphony Manager.

We welcome students from all parts of the county and all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. No student is excluded from the orchestra due to financial need. Limited financial aid and scholarships are available.

Rehearsals
Symphony rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings from 6:15 PM to 8:30 PM at the Georgiana Bruce Kirby School in Harvey West Industrial Park. Prospective musicians and the general public are welcome at all rehearsals. The first rehearsal will be September 12, 2010.

The Georgiana Bruce Kirby School is located at 425 Encinal Street in Harvey West Industrial Park (behind Costco). Click here for map (Adobe Acrobat PDF file).
