On Sunday, May 17th at 2:00 pm, an orchestra of 100 talented, young musicians from the Monterey Bay Area will converge to perform "Before the New World" at the Henry J. Mello Center for the Performing Arts in Watsonville.

In this joint concert, the youth and honors orchestras of the Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony and Youth Music Monterey will be performing the lively music of Offenbach's BAllet Parisien, Brahm's Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Dvorak's Slavonic Dance No. 8, and Grofe's Mississippi Suite.  This special ensemble will continue the afternoon's musical journey with a presentation of the rhythmic, Spanish flair of Massenet's Le Cid Ballet Suite and the dramatic finale to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
