• Strong musical skills and good attitude are the primary requirements for admission to the symphony; these factors are more important than an applicants age or how long they have played an instrument. However, all applicants must be 18 years old or younger, and must be prepared to make a sincere commitment to full rehearsal and concert participation as well as to private study and diligent practice.


• New members will pay 2/3 of the annual enrollment for the Winter and Spring period. Mr. Laster can finalize the cost when you speak with him.
  Annual tuition for the youth symphony is *$700. A discount is available for families with more than one musician in the symphony. No musician will be excluded due to financial need. Scholarships and financial aid are available. Double reeds and brass are strongly encouraged to audition. Please contact the Executive Director for more information. *Full year payments may be split into two $350 payments.

To register for the remainder of the 2011-2012 season:

• All prospective musicians should complete an Audition Request Form. Audition forms should be received by Thursday, December 15th.
  
• New musicians will complete a Registration Packet, which will be given to those accepted into the Youth Symphony..

• A major scale of up to three sharps or three flats selected by the con-
  ductor (up to 3 octaves for strings and 2 octaves for winds and brass).
• A prepared piece or etude no longer than three minutes in length.
• Sight reading of one or more short musical segments selected by the conductor.
